How to Spot a Voiceover Cannibal

✋RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU’RE TIRED OF PEOPLE PREYING ON NEW VOICEOVER TALENT ✋

Here are some good rules of thumbs:

  • If they promise you a demo after a certain amount of sessions, they don’t have your best interest in mind.
  • If they give you a demo after a weekend workshop, they don’t have your best interest in mind.
  • If you have zero experience or coaching and they throw you in the the demo process, they don’t have your best interest in mind.
  • If they offer you a demo and you have to pick the scripts, YOU GUESSED IT, they don’t have your best interest in mind.

Don’t fall for the cannibals. Do your research. Ask around. Get referrals. Schedule FREE consultations with reputable demo producers (yes, consults should ALWAYS be free, fight me). And most of all – LISTEN to their work and use your best judgement. If it feels fishy, it’s probably a fish, baby.

Love, your friendly neighborhood demo producer.
